About the Parlie Army
Fans of the Parlotones
The t shirt making started when we wanted to buy some shirts of The Parlotones for the concert at the Coke a Cola and I was unable to find any online.
Desperately wanting a shirt of The Parlotones to wear,I decided to make my own.
The result was liked so much that I had to explain to a lot off people I can't sell my t shirt while wearing it!
It then became a 'hobby' of mine making shirts for the whole family to wear to concerts.
At each concert I ask the The Parlotones to sign the prevoius concert's t shirt and add it to my growing collection of The Parlotones
In the same time I started with the shirt making a group of people formed at facebook who became friens because of The Parlotones.
And since we meet at concerts we decided we all must have a Parlie Army shirt,to proudly show we are fans of a fantastic band,to wear to concerts. I was already into the t shirt making,and loving it, so I organized the shirts for our group.
Since the Army is expanding and with it more 'troops' requesting t shirts a online store seems logical.
By showing our support and love for The Parlotones and how a group of people can became friends simply by sharing the love of music,
I hope that this Army will spread out through the rest of the world as more people discover their amazing talent and magical music and became fans of The Parlotones)
The Parlotones are known for their electric, polished stage performances delivered against the backdrop of their deftly crafted and darkly romantic lyrics. Their sound, described as alternative in their formative years and influenced by the likes of Muse, Radiohead and the Smiths, has evolved substantially becoming more refined and focused with each album. The band experiment sonically with their sound and various structures are utilised in their songs, including the typical Doo-Wop cycle or traditional Folk structure.It took the bands debut album ‘Radiocontrolledrobot’ two years to reach Gold status and their follow up ‘A World Next Door To Yours’ achieved this in three months.
Three months later the album was certified Platinum. Testimony to just how much the band has grown over the past few years.’ A World Next Door To Yours’ remained on the South African top 20 sales chart for more than twelve months and is currently South Africa’s biggest selling rock album of this decade. The album spurned seven radio singles, a very unique situation.
